Choosing Chacala as a Baby Moon Destination

Our timing for the baby pretty much left us without a real vacation, so even though a full out Babymoon was not going to happen, I was really insistent that we would have at least one more visit to the beach before we were confined to the city for the remainder of the summer.

Having already been to most of the beaches on the Costalegre, we decided to start trying out the beaches north of Puerto Vallarta, in Nayarit state.

Luckily, we had just received a great recommendation from some new friends, and decided to head to Chacala from Guadalajara. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive within 3 hours, and with the 1 hour time difference our first day started out much earlier than planned!

Exploring Chacala

We didn’t waste any time putting up our umbrella, laying out a sheet and lounging around with books and beer. Anxious to explore, we went for a short walk to see the dock, and check out the “town”. It was a great start to our weekend.

Chacala Beach

The next two days, we started with a morning walk on the beach. The whole cove was a little on the short side (short enough that I didn’t get tired walking along it), but just enough to get our blood flowing pre-breakfast.

Our second day, we decided to do things Mexican style: sitting in one of the restaurants intermittently ordering a drink or snack, while mostly chowing down on our own food from the cooler beside us. It’s a very economical way to get some long term shade.

We spent the day rotating between rounds of scrabble, cards, books, and of course the occasional dip in the water! The waves were just strong enough to be exciting, and mild enough to not cause any concern.

The best was being on the floaty, with my stomach being held up by the water, and even though I was huge, I still had one bathing suit that fit, so thank goodness!

We enjoyed the sound of the waves in the day and the AC at night. Baby Boy seemed to be content as well, kicking a lot throughout the whole weekend.

On our last day, we had to have some serious water and book time before checking out. We got some excellent seafood, particularly a 1.5 kilo grilled Sarape fish, to fill our tummies before the growing Sunday crowds and wading afternoon sent us back to the city.

It was too fun and I didn’t want to come back!
