There are so many options for the best babymoon destinations! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A babymoon vacation is just like any other, except you&#8217;re traveling during pregnancy which means there are certain things to consider. You can look at it as a last hurrah before the sleep deprivation kicks in. Or, in our case, treasuring our time with the kids we already have before adding another to the mix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Truthfully, any excuse for a vacation, <em>AmIRight<\/em>? So let&#8217;s see how to choose your baby moon destination. Let&#8217;s take a look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Health-Considerations\"><\/span>Health Considerations<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider current CDC and State Department guidelines. For example, when we were planning <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"our 2016 babymoon (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/babymoon-best-places-to-eat-and-relax-in-guadalajara-and-puerto-vallarta\/\" target=\"_blank\">our 2016 babymoon<\/a>, the <strong>Zika<\/strong> hysteria was in full swing. The recommendation at the time was to choose a destination at altitude if we were going somewhere with reports of the virus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then again, during our first pregnancy, our doctors warned us, to avoid <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"too high of an altitude while pregnant (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/wwwnc.cdc.gov\/travel\/yellowbook\/2020\/family-travel\/pregnant-travelers\" target=\"_blank\">too high of an altitude while pregnant<\/a>. It&#8217;s about finding the sweet spot to prevent <strong>altitude<\/strong> sickness, taking into consideration where you currently live and what altitude your body is already used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another consideration is <strong>access to medical care<\/strong>. This is something we absolutely thought about on this current trip! We wanted to be within less than an hour drive from a major medical center, just in case. In pregnancy it is extremely important to rest and take it easy, avoiding unnecessary stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, consider skipping out on the long-haul flights and choose a destination that is within a distance you are comfortable flying or driving to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"very first babymoon (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/chacala\/\" target=\"_blank\">very first babymoon<\/a> was a short three hour drive to the beach. It was just a weekend away, but made for a relaxing getaway. This time around we had a longer stretch of time, so there was a lot more trip planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Budget-Considerations\"><\/span>Budget Considerations<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re interested in an all inclusive babymoon, a luxury babymoon, a budget babymoon or something in between, money is a factor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many ways <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"to afford travel (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/5-ways-to-make-travel-affordable\/\" target=\"_blank\">to afford travel<\/a>, so hopefully a babymoon can fall within your budget, even if you end up just <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"taking a staycation (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/things-to-do-when-you-cant-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\">taking a staycation<\/a>. For this latest trip we relied on points and miles to make the big stuff happen, and had a strict daily budget for the rest of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Time-of-the-Year\"><\/span>Time of the Year<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, I can&#8217;t fail to mention the time of the year, as it affects all travel: honeymoon, babymoon, backpacking trip, you name it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many pregnant women find that the heat bothers them. In that case, choose a cooler destination, particularly if you are planning a summer babymoon (in the Northern hemisphere, that is). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personally I prefer warm weather destinations, so Mexico was a perfect winter babymoon destination for us. As was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Chile (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/babymoon-chile-algarrobo-san-alfonso-del-mar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chile<\/a>, when we went for a vacation before the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"birth of our winter baby (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/a-dream-birth\/\" target=\"_blank\">birth of our winter baby<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately for us, this time around we would be traveling around the Christmas holidays, meaning that prices were way up. To counter this effect, we opted to spend our beach time on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/exploring-the-yucatan-beaches\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"6574\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Gulf coast of Yucatan<\/a>, and in Puerto Morelos, rather than a major resort in Cancun or the Riviera Maya. All that to say, where there&#8217;s a will, there&#8217;s a way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"767\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-babymoon-bump-picture-767x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-babymoon-bump-picture-767x1024.jpg 767w, https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-babymoon-bump-picture-240x320.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-babymoon-bump-picture-768x1025.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-babymoon-bump-picture.jpg 959w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When-to-Travel-during-Pregnancy\"><\/span>When to Travel during Pregnancy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past nine years, I have done quite a bit of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"travel while pregnant (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/traveling-with-toddler-while-pregnant\/\" target=\"_blank\">travel while pregnant<\/a>. Therefore, I have very solidified views on this matter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First-Trimester-Travel\"><\/span>First Trimester Travel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re traveling in the first trimester, it&#8217;s not a babymoon. Truth be told I have <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"flown to Israel (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/israel-with-baby-toddler\/\" target=\"_blank\">flown to Israel<\/a>, and taken a major <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"trip to Chile (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/travel-hiking-in-first-trimester\/\" target=\"_blank\">trip to Chile<\/a>, while pregnant in the first trimester. Both of those trips were planned well before the pregnancy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If at all possible, I would avoid travel in the first trimester, for no other reason than to minimize your own discomfort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Second-Trimester-Travel\"><\/span>Second Trimester Travel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people will say that travel in the second trimester is ideal. You are definitely feeling at your best during this time. We jetted off to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"New York City (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/new-york-city-fun\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York City<\/a> at the tail end of the second trimester and it was certainly a great trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advantage of vacation in the second trimester is that you usually don&#8217;t have limitations imposed by cruise ships or airlines. Your energy levels will be high to allow a good amount of activity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Technically, this current babymoon at 27 weeks, took place on the cusp between the second and third trimester!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Third-Trimester-Travel\"><\/span>Third Trimester Travel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The beginning of the third trimester, right around week 28, is the ideal time for a babymoon as far as I am concerned. Yes, you may be a little more tired than if you had gone earlier. However, it is really the ideal time to rest your body and enjoy that big baby bump before it gets very uncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I take a lot of comfort knowing that by this point baby is fully formed, and most of the major prenatal testing has been taken care of. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/babymoon-chile-algarrobo-san-alfonso-del-mar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"babymoon in South America (opens in a new tab)\">babymoon in South America<\/a> took place at 29 weeks, which was really great!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"767\" src=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-telchac-puerto-babymoon-1024x767.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6739\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-telchac-puerto-babymoon-1024x767.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-telchac-puerto-babymoon-320x240.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-telchac-puerto-babymoon-768x575.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yucatan-telchac-puerto-babymoon.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Our-Yucatan-Baby-Moon\"><\/span>Our Yucatan Baby Moon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When it came down to it, between our date constrictions and budgetary goals for this trip, we decided to return to one of our favorite destinations: Yucatan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My main goal was relaxation which meant spending about half our time at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/back-to-cancun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"the beach (opens in a new tab)\">the beach<\/a>. Michael was interested in returning to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"the hacienda (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/a-day-of-relaxation-at-hacienda-san-jose-and-izamal\/\" target=\"_blank\">the hacienda<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Uxmal (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atinytrip.com\/merida-and-uxmal-with-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\">Uxmal<\/a>.
