General:
* Get organized- treks should be organized from Kathmandu, not Pokhara.
* Gear- all the gear that you need can be bought in Kathmandu other than good hiking shoes (bring from home). if only coming for the trek bring a sleeping bag from home (it’s cold up on the mountain all year round). for reference a fleece jacket runs around 600 nrs.
* Guide- hire a guide (although we didn’t) it is worth the added cost to have someone who knows the territory and trails and during high season the guides can reserve you lodges before arriving.
* Water- bring water purification tablets (from home) and nalgene type bottles (you can buy in kathmandu). at the top you will be paying 60 Rs a liter to fill a bottle, but there is no plastic allowed after a certain point.
Annapurna Trekking Permit: 2000 Rs/ person; need to go to the office in Kathmandu or Pokhara ahead of time with passport pictures where you can register and pay.

Bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara: is around 400 Rs and takes 7 hours. get a window seat. if you have the money, fly.
