Tiyulim: Day Trips in Israel

Israel is such an incredible place to visit, there are numerous destinations to visit. Today we’re going to focus on Israel day trips in the summer. They are of course, also good for spring and fall!

These our some of our suggestions of places to go for a day of fun in Israel. As some of our readership might know, we (d&m) have recently made our union official. We tied the knot in the Holy Land, and it was wonderful being there as tourists.

All the small tiyulim (trips/hikes) that we used to take for granted when we lived in Israel, were made that much more special, as we were surrounded by friends and family and kept the celebration going for a solid two weeks.

Here are a few glances at some of the tiyulim (day trips) we loved:

Day Trips in Israel

Israel is a small country, only 470 kilometers long, and 135 kilometers wide at its widest point! This means that you can easily travel all over the country no matter where you decide to stay.

That said, there is a lot to see in each region of Israel. I’ve already written before about hiking in Israel in the spring, and more places during our summer in Israel.

Here is our post wedding trip where we took lots of day trips all over Israel. We based ourselves just north of Tel Aviv and were easily able to get to all of these locations and back without too much driving time. On this trip we did a lot more of the classic things to do in Israel!

Jerusalem Highlights in a Day Trip

Every visitor that comes to Israel will want to see Jerusalem! Many will spend several days there, exploring the Old City and some of the major monuments. However, for Israelis or those short on time, Jerusalem is great for a day trip, at only an hour from Tel Aviv.

Start with a walk from the downtown Jerusalem, through Mamila to the Old City. Then come back up and a visit to Shuk Machne Yehuda.

Upper Galilee Day Trip

A stop in Kahal for a view of the Kineret (Sea of Galilee) and hiking in Ein Tina and the Syrian Tank section of the Banias (Hermon Stream Nature Reserve). And Druze dinner in Mas’ada. This day trip involved more driving, but with an early morning start, you can get in a satisfying day spent in nature!

Acre Day Trip

Breakfast in Kfar Vradim and a visit to Acco (Acre), including the Bahai Gardens, the Templar tunnels, and walk through the Acre old city port. This day trip is easy to take from central Israel as it is only an hour and a half from Tel Aviv by train or car.

Tel-Aviv Day Trip

No trip to Israel is complete without a visit to Tel Aviv. If it’s your first time, take a look at this Tel-Aviv walking tour. Look at that sunset…need we say more? the sun, the beach, the coffee- truly a vacation spot. Wherever you stay in Israel you must at least take a day trip to Tel Aviv!

It all went by so fast and we can’t wait for our next tiyulon in Israel!
